This school has huge potential, but poor management is running it into the ground. What used to be a great community with strong students has been wrecked by short-sighted, cost-cutting leadership. Academics & Admissions A few years ago, the school basically threw out its admissions standards. They started enrolling students who spoke zero English, gave them zero language support, and still expected them to sit and pass their GCSEs in a single year. The results were completely predictable: behavior took a nose-dive, academic results dropped, and the higher-performing students left. And instead of addressing the root cause, leadership blamed the teachers. Leadership & Administration There is no consistent direction here. The school has cycled through five headteachers in less than ten years. Teacher turnover is awful because leadership treats staff as completely replaceable, letting experienced educators go and filling the gaps with cheaper hires. Admin routinely undermines its own staff. A clear example: leadership told teachers to enforce a strict rule that any student with under 80% attendance would be barred from exams. Teachers spent the whole year backing that up. Come exam season, parents complained, and admin caved immediately—letting kids with attendance as low as 1% sit the papers anyway. It sent a clear message that school policies only matter until a parent pushes back, leaving teachers with zero authority. Leadership consistently prioritizes quick financial fixes over long-term educational quality, and the staff are left taking the blame for management's bad calls. If you're looking for stability, academic integrity, or supportive leadership, look elsewhere.
