SIS (Shekou International School) was hyped as Shenzhen’s best—35+ years old, yet almost no systems for behavior, learning support, or anything. Decisions are pure case-by-case chaos. Admin at The Bay changes every year. New Head, Principal, Assit Principals. Bad performers get promoted. Middle leadership axed. Teachers “restructured” or non-renewed with zero explanation (enrollment excuse). Toxic as fuck—no trust, last-minute decisions, zero empathy. Package used to be solid + Shekou is nice… but no raises, cut PD/budgets/benefits (even TAs took hits). Resources vanishing. New Principal Erin Threllfall: “9 pillars of happiness” talk, zero classroom time, fake “collaboration,” AI-fluffy emails, lies, micromanages, prioritizes redecorating over staff. Absent for key events. Assit Principal Kirsty Van Rooyen: promoted with little experience, disorganized, forgets coverage/follow-ups, vindictive, mood-based decisions. No growth, no support, voices ignored. Students lose most. STAY AWAY.
