The campus is shrinking and overrun by road construction, but the administration simply doesn't care. The School Director is entirely absent from academic life, only appearing for photo ops or escorting the owner, while running a toxic culture behind the scenes fueled by favoritism and paranoia. Both the Head of Primary and Head of Secondary are on their way out—the secondary head has already checked out, leaving a trail of unresolved issues behind—while the Tech Director continues to dismiss reasonable staff requests on personal whims. Working conditions are bottom-tier for Guangzhou. The compensation package is insultingly low, healthcare coverage is consistently downgraded, and daily essentials are treated like luxuries. Getting basic classroom supplies requires either months of bureaucratic red tape or paying out of your own pocket because the supply room is perpetually locked. On top of that, mandatory professional development eats heavily into summer break, forcing staff into infantilizing, performative exercises designed purely for marketing footage rather than actual teacher growth. Enrollment has plummeted to the point where staff sometimes seem to outnumber students, making it hard to even run extracurricular teams. While tiny classes sound nice on paper, the reality here is constant job anxiety. With numbers dwindling and zero financial transparency, sudden, unfair dismissals happen regularly. Morale is dead, leadership offers no vision for the future, and working here means dealing with endless stress for mediocre pay. Look elsewhere.
